The Way of Love (poem)

Through heartbreak & through jubilee
The somber, the sublime
I trust I am Your masterpiece
Made beautiful in time

You compass me, encompass me
You guide me in Your peace
Through seasons shifting endlessly
Your face I’ve learned to seek

To love, and to persist in love
The greatest human aim
Is one that we alone
Can never humanly attain

Your grace is ever present
As I learn to lay down pride
And even in my brokenness
You’re faithful yet to guide

Surrounded me with love so pure
I’ve never walked alone
For even as some must depart
I’ve learned You are the source

And every moment comes to this
It all amounts to One
Each soul I have encountered
Made a vessel for Your love

Through all I’ve said and all I’ve done
And all I’ve left behind
These memories encircle me
And ever will remind

In wilderness You gave me voice
You helped me find my song
Replacing fear with boldness
For to You my heart belongs

So this, my recollection
Is my love letter to Love
And all I have encountered
For the sake of learning trust

And for the sake of finally
Believing at long last
The depth of love You have for me
The beauty of Your plans

For all I have encountered
Points to one singular aim
A witness to the goodness
I have learned to call by name

Through all I’ve said and all I’ve done
And all I’ve left behind
These memories encircle me
And ever will remind

Through heartbreak & through jubilee
The journey’s just begun
I trust that You are leading me
To learn the way of love
